Keyboard & Touchpad Scrolling Issues
Perform a reset – Disconnect the netbook from the power supply. Turn off the Gateway Kav60 laptop. Unplug the device from the docking station. Disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the device. Rebuild the power connection. Press and hold the power button for few seconds. Do not connect any external devices. Proceed with the normal start of Windows. Check whether the issue is resolved. If not, follow the next method. Uninstall/Reinstall – Click the Start menu. Open the Device Manager. Locate ‘Keyboards’ menu in the list. Expand the menu. Right-click and uninstall all devices under the keyboard category. Restart the device. Windows will automatically reinstall keyboard drivers. If the above steps fail to rectify the issue, take the device for hardware service to an authorized service center. Resolve scrolling issues – Open the Control Panel home. Locate the ‘Mouse’ or ‘Keyboard & Mouse’ sub-menu. Expand the sub-menu. Choose the scrolling option. Ensure that the option is enabled. If it is disabled, click the check-box to enable. Go to the scroll settings. Refer to the user manual to check whether the touchpad supports multi-touch. If yes, click the ‘activate multi-touch’ option and exit the screen.
Sound/Audio doesn’t work
When the speaker fails to make the sound, check whether the volume is set to mute. If yes, unmute the volume. Press the ‘+’ button on the top right corner of the device. If not, follow the next method. Verify whether the speaker system is connected properly. Click the Start button. Open the Control Panel. Enter into the System Properties. Expand the Hardware tab. Open the Device Manager. Click the ‘+’ sign near the computer. The list of available audio devices is displayed. Check whether all devices are enabled. If any audio device is disabled, enable the device. Then, expand the driver tab. Right-click the audio driver. Select ‘Uninstall’ from the drop-down menu. Disconnect and reconnect the audio device. The system automatically reinstalls driver files.
Gateway Kav60 Won’t Turn ON
Examine the power connection. Check the AC adapter whether it is physically damaged or not. If yes, replace the cable with a new one. Remove the front and rear panel of the Gateway Kav60 Laptop. Instructions to remove the panel are explained in the User Manual. Locate the cable that acts as the bridge between the motherboard and the switchboard. Unplug the cable. Blow compressed air into the slots. If the cable is damaged, replace with a new one, or, reconnect the same cable. Close the panel. Turn on the netbook. If the problem continues, follow the below method. Remove the battery. Plug in the AC adapter to the netbook. Plug the other end into a working power supply. Turn on the netbook. Windows Password Recovery
Power on the netbook. When the screen shows the start page, power off the netbook. Turn on the netbook again. The system prompts you to choose one between two options – Launch the start-up repair / Start windows normally. Select the first option. Tap the ‘View problem details’ tab in the upcoming screen on Gateway Kav60 Laptop. Navigate the bottom of the screen. You will find a link at the bottom of the display. Click the link. A list is displayed on the next screen. From the list displayed, select the sticky keys application. Rename the application file as ‘backup file’. Locate the system file that is in cmd.exe format. Rename the command file. Click the finish button. Wait for the netbook to automatically restart. Enter into the log in screen. Press the Shift key repeatedly until the command prompt is displayed. Type ‘net user’ at the command prompt. Enter a new password. Re-enter the password to confirm. Press the enter button. Exit the command menu. Restart the netbook. Reset Windows Password
Open the search tab. Type ‘recovery drive’ in the tab. Press the enter button. The utility tool opens. Select ‘Backup system files to the recovery drive’ option. Click the next button. Insert a USB flash drive into the netbook. Tap the ‘Create’ button. Wait until the system completes the copy operation. Once the process is complete, tap the finish button. Using the USB drive – We recommend you to backup all the data before commencing the recovery process. Restart the netbook. Connect the recovery drive(USB drive) to the netbook. Press the boot function key repeatedly until the ‘System Recovery’ is loaded. A list of troubleshooting options is displayed. Choose the reset option from the list. Reset Windows Password – Click the troubleshoot option. Choose ‘Reset Windows Password’. Tap the next button. Follow directions onscreen to finish the reset process on Gateway Kav60 Laptop.
Gateway Laptop Black Screen Error
If the netbook displays a black screen, check whether the device is physically damaged or not. Examine the ribbon cable. The ribbon cable is also known as the display adapter. It is used to build the connection between the display and the motherboard. If the cable is damaged, take the netbook to an authorized service center. Replace the cable with a new one. Next, open the rear panel. Remove the battery. Locate the RAM slot on the motherboard. Remove the RAM chip from the slot. Blow compressed air to clear the dust. Re-insert the chip. The CMOS battery and BIOS settings are depended on each other. When the CMOS battery is removed, the BIOS is restored to its default settings. In order to avoid setting issues in future, take a note of the BIOS configurations. Open the system settings menu. Locate the BIOS. Open the properties tab. Note down the configuration. Disconnect the power adapter from the netbook. Remove the rear access panel. The CMOS battery is attached to the motherboard by a metal clip. Remove the clip without damaging the motherboard. Take the battery out. Replace it with a new battery. Reattach access panels. Power on the netbook. Perform boot operation. Open the BIOS settings. Replace the default BIOS values with the previous configuration. Exit the boot menu. The battery is replaced and set.
Gateway Hard Drive Removal
Turn the netbook upside down. Locate the hard drive panel. The panel is fixed to the device by screws. Remove the screw. Keep these screws in a safe place as they are very difficult to replace. Take the panel edge out from the netbook. Slide the panel slowly to avoid damage to the hard drive. Turn over the panel. The hard drive is screwed into the panel. Remove the screws on Gateway Kav60 Laptop. This loosens the drive. Pull the drive from the panel. If you want to replace the drive, buy a new hard drive from a trusted provider. How to Factory Reset Gateway Kav60 Laptop

Gateway Laptop Not Booting
- If the Gateway Kav60 Laptop fails to boot, perform troubleshooting. Check the BIOS. The BIOS restores to default settings, once the CMOS battery is drained or removed. Switch on the netbook. Press and hold the boot key-F8 or F2.

- Resolve the booting problem by overloading the keyboard buffer. Tap the Esc key continuously until the buffer process begins. This process makes the system to enter into the booting process. Once entered, launch the boot setup immediately.
Unable to connect to Wifi or setting up a new wifi connection
Switch on the router. Turn on the Gateway Kav60 Laptop. Click the Start button. Open the Device Manager. Under the ‘Networks’ menu, locate the list of network drivers. Uninstall all network drivers. Open ‘This PC’. Locate the ‘Program files’ folder. Delete the network source files. Restart the device. Turn on the Wi-Fi feature in the netbook. Scan and connect to the available network. Wait till the system automatically re-installs network drivers. If the problem persists, open the list of network drivers. Right-click a driver. Select ‘Update’ from the drop-down menu.
