Follow instructions onscreen to complete the installation.
At the final step, click the checkbox. This confirms that you have agreed to Terms & Conditions of the installation. Click the finish button. Driver files are installed successfully. Registration – Register the laptop by entering user credentials with the Gateway forum. Software installation – Download the application. Run the setup file. The Windows automatically downloads and installs the driver for the application. If not, download the drivers manually from the Driver downloads option.
Safety with ease – Remove the power supply only after powering down the laptop. Do not place heavy or electronic devices on/near the laptop. Upgrade to windows 10
Verify whether the laptop is compatible with the Windows 10 Operating system. Download the Windows 10 installation file from a licensed provider. If the installation file is in the form of a CD, insert the disc into the laptop’s DVD drive. If the file is copied to a USB flash drive, insert the drive into the laptop’s USB slot. Restart the laptop. Press the boot function key. Enter into the boot menu. Click the ‘install operating system’ option. The system displays the list of available optical devices. Choose the desired device. Select the drive you want to install the OS. Click Start. Follow directions onscreen to complete the upgrade process. Perform first-time system setup. The device is configured with Windows 10 Operating system. Windows 8 users can easily upgrade to Windows 10-Open the properties tab of the installed Operating system. Click ‘Check for updates’. Right-click the system option. Select ‘Update to Windows 10’. The upgrade process is initiated. Wait until the setup is complete. The system restarts with Windows 10 Operating system. Downgrade to windows 7
Open the system settings menu. Click ‘Update & Security’. Locate the ‘Recovery’ option and press enter. The system prompts you to choose one between two options-‘Go back to Windows 7’ / ‘Go back to Windows 8’. Select the first option. Wait few seconds. Tap ‘Get started’. Click Yes to confirm. The downgrade process begins. Wait until the process is complete. The system automatically restarts with the Windows 7 Operating system. If the system does not restart automatically, manually restart the system.

Examine the power connection. Check the AC adapter whether it is physically damaged or not. If yes, replace the cable with a new one. Remove the front and rear panel of the laptop. Blow compressed air into the slots. If the cable is damaged, replace with a new one, or, reconnect the same cable. Close the panel. Turn on the laptop. If the problem continues, follow the below method. Remove the battery. Plug in the AC adapter to the laptop. Plug the other end into a working power supply. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop works perfectly, then the battery is damaged. Replace the battery.
Windows password recovery
Turn on the laptop. When the screen displays the start page, power off the laptop. Turn on the device again. The system prompts you to choose one between two options – Launch the start-up repair / Start windows normally. Select the first option. Tap the ‘View problem details’ tab in the upcoming screen. Navigate the bottom of the screen. You will find a link at the bottom. Click the link. A list is displayed on the next screen. From the list displayed, select the sticky keys application. Rename the application file as ‘backup file’. Locate the system file that is in cmd.exe format. Rename the command file. Click the finish button. Wait for the laptop to automatically restart. Enter into the log in screen. Press the Shift key repeatedly until the command prompt is displayed. Type ‘net user’ in the command box. Enter a new password. Re-enter the password to confirm. Press the enter button. Exit the command menu. Restart the laptop. In the start page, enter your new password.
Reset windows password
Open the search tab. Enter ‘recovery drive’ and press the enter button. The utility tool opens. Select ‘Backup system files to the recovery drive’ option. Click the next button. Insert a USB flash drive into the laptop. Tap the ‘Create’ button. Wait until the system completes the copy operation. Once the process is complete, tap the finish button. Using the USB drive – We recommend you to backup all the data before commencing the recovery process. Restart the laptop. Connect the recovery drive(USB drive) to the laptop. Press the boot function key repeatedly until the ‘System Recovery’ is loaded. A list of troubleshooting options is displayed. Choose the reset option from the list. Reset Windows Password – Click the troubleshoot option. Choose ‘Reset Windows Password’. Tap the next button. Follow directions onscreen to finish the reset. System Restore – Click the troubleshoot option. Open the ‘Advanced options’ menu. Select the System Restore menu and proceed with instructions onscreen.

If the laptop displays a black screen, initially check whether the laptop is physically damaged or not. Examine the ribbon cable. The ribbon cable is also known as the display adapter. It is used to build the connection between the display and the motherboard. If the cable is damaged, take the laptop to an authorized service center. Replace the cable with a new one. Next, open the rear panel. Remove the battery. Locate the RAM slot on the motherboard. Remove the RAM chip from the slot. Blow compressed air to clear the dust. Re-insert the chip. If possible, insert the chip in another slot. Turn on the laptop. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next step. Connect the laptop to an external monitor using a VGA cable. Power on both devices. If the external monitor displays the normal screen but not the laptop, replace the inverter in the laptop. The CMOS battery and the BIOS are depended on each other. When the CMOS battery is removed, the BIOS is restored to its default settings. In order to avoid issues in future, take a note of the BIOS configurations. Open the system settings menu. Locate the BIOS. Open the properties tab. Note down the configuration. Disconnect the power adapter from the laptop. Remove the rear access panel. The CMOS battery is attached to the motherboard by a metal clip. Remove the clip without damaging the motherboard. Wait few hours. The data will be deleted completely. The system restarts. Perform the first time setup process. The laptop now functions as a new device.
Gateway laptop not Booting
- If the Gateway laptop fails to boot, perform troubleshooting. Check the BIOS. The BIOS restores to default settings, once the CMOS battery is drained or removed. Switch on the laptop. Press and hold the boot key-F8 or F2.
- Alter default settings. Apply changes and exit the setup. Check if the laptop boots now. If it fails, replace the old one with a new CMOS battery. If the battery is altered by shape, carefully re-alter the battery to the original design.
- If the problem continues, discard the hard drive. Re-insert the hard drive. Turn on the laptop. In the start page launch the start-up repair option. Adjust boot options with reference to the instruction manual.
- Resolve the booting problem by overloading the keyboard buffer. Tap the Esc key continuously until the buffer process begins. This process makes the system to enter into the booting process. Once entered, launch the boot setup immediately.
Unable to connect to Wifi or setting up a new wifi connection
Turn on the router. Switch on the laptop. Click the Start button. Open the Device Manager. Under the ‘Networks’ menu, locate the list of network drivers. Uninstall all network drivers. Open ‘This PC’. Locate the ‘Program files’ folder. Delete the network source files. Restart the device. Turn on the Wi-Fi feature in the laptop. Scan and connect to the available network. Wait till the system automatically re-installs the network drivers. If the problem persists, open the list of network drivers. Right-click a driver. Select ‘Update’ from the drop-down menu. The network driver is updated. Repeat this step until all drivers are updated.

Restart both the network provider and the notebook. Enable the WI-FI feature in the device. Scan and connect to the desired network. If the device could not connect to the network, follow the below steps. Open the Device Manager. Locate network drivers. Right-click and select ‘uninstall’ from the drop-down menu. Right-click the application. Select ‘Uninstall’ from the drop-down menu. Wait few seconds. The application is uninstalled.
