How to Fix Wi-Fi Problem in Windows 10 Laptop?

Connecting to Wi-Fi is usually very simple on Windows 10 devices. All that you need to know is the SSID and password of the Wi-Fi network. But, if you are facing Wi-Fi problem in Windows 10 computer, proceed with the steps that are given below to fix the issue.

Step 1: Resolving Initial Issues

  1. Check whether you have properly connected the modem and the Wi-Fi router.
  2. Examine the cables used to connect the devices. If they are defective, replace them.
  3. Restart the router, modem, and computer and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
  4. Try connecting your modem directly to your computer and check whether you are able to access the internet.
  5. If you have changed the Wi-Fi password, forget the existing network and reconnect to the network.
  6. While connecting to Wi-Fi, enter the password correctly.
  7. If Caps Lock or Num Lock is turned on while entering the password, then turn it off.
  8. Now, click on the Connect button after entering the password.
  9. Check whether you are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
  10. If the security software on your computer seems to be blocking your network connection, temporarily disable the software and try to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Updating Driver of the Network Adapter

  1. Press the Windows and R buttons together to launch the Run dialog box.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc in the open field and press OK to open the Device Manager window.
  3. Expand the Network adapters section and select your wireless network. Then, right-click on it and select the Update Driver Software option from the displayed list.
  4. Now, click the ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ option.
  5. Checkmark the Include subfolders option and click the ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’ option.
  6. Select Show compatible hardware to view the list of drivers available.
  7. Choose the required driver and click Next.
  8. Wait until the driver is updated. Once the installation is completed, you will see the successful message.
  9. Now, click Close and exit the Device Manager window.

Step 3: Fixing no Internet Issues

  1. If you are connected to the Wi-Fi network but can’t access the internet, open the Settings window from the Start menu.
  2. Select the Update & Security section and click the Troubleshoot tab.
  3. Now, select the Internet Connections option and click on the ‘Run the troubleshooter’ option.
  4. Complete the network troubleshooting process by following the instructions on the screen.
  5. If you still can’t connect to the internet, open the Run dialog box and type cmd in the Search section. Then, click OK.
  6. When the Command Prompt window shows up, enter the following commands, and tap the Enter key after each command.
  7. netsh winsock reset
  8. ipconfig /release
  9. netsh int ip reset
  10. ipconfig /renew
  11. ipconfig /flushdns
  12. Reboot your Windows computer after running the troubleshooting process to resolve the Wi-Fi problem in Windows 10issue.

Step 4: Reinstalling driver

  1. If your Windows 10 computer can’t connect to the Wi-Fi network, uninstall the network adapter.
  2. Press the Windows and X buttons together. Then, right-click on the Device Manager option and select Uninstall.
  3. When prompted for confirmation, select the Delete the driver software for this device option.
  4. Restart your computer. Once restarted, the computer will install the driver automatically.
  5. Now, open the Device Manager window and expand the Network Adapters section.
  6. Right-click on your network driver and select the Properties option.
