How To Install Deb File In Ubuntu?

  2. In the Terminal window, type the ‘sudo dpkg -i path_to_deb_file’ command (replace path_to _deb_file with your .deb file path and name) and press the Enter key.

  4. Alternatively, you can use the ‘sudo apt install path_to_deb_file’ command in the Terminal window to install the .deb file.
  5. Make sure to replace ‘path_to_deb_file’ with your .deb file path and name.

Installing the .deb file using gdebi application:

  1. Sometimes, the Software Center may encounter the dependency error when installing the .deb file on your Ubuntu desktop.
  2. When you get this kind of dependency error, the Software Center cannot handle it independently.
  3. To handle this error, use the gdebi application.
  4. To install it, use the ‘sudo apt install gdebi’ command in the Terminal window.
  5. Next, give a right-click on the downloaded .deb file and select Other followed by gdebi application.
  6. In the Package Installer window, click the Install Package button.
  7. Wait until the installation completes.

Installing the .deb file using Software Center:

  1. On your Ubuntu desktop, navigate to the Downloads folder.
  2. Locate the downloaded .deb file and give a double-click on it.
  3. This will launch the Software Center, where you can view the option to install the software.
  4. Finally, click on Install to start installing the .deb file.
